Opening Doors to a Brighter Future

Our sewing programs give students like Jemima the opportunity to find meaningful work that could open doors to a brighter future!

We see vocational training as a sustainable, responsible solution:

  • Growing economic demand for skilled-workers
  • Lack of post-secondary education options
  • Fast-track to work, many times within a few months
  • Increased earning potential
  • Ability to support themselves and their families
  • Flexibility to start a business or work for an employer
  • Earn a skill for life that can’t be taken away

November Haiti Made Giveaway

We're excited to announce our new monthly giveaways that feature handcrafted items made in Haiti by Haitian artisans - including some of our students!

We believe in the power of opportunity and investing in people, and one tangible way to do that is to purchase the products they make. These free giveaways are made possible thanks to a generous donor.

Our November Haiti Made giveaway item is a beautiful handpainted disc (it's actually an old cd that has been repurposed) that was made by an artisan in St. Louis du Nord in Northwest Haiti.

Complete the form below to register for our FREE November drawing. Deadline to enter is midnight EST on Saturday, November 5. Winner will be contacted via email on Sunday, November 6. Good luck!

*One entry per person please.

WAVES OF MERCY - PORT-DE-PAIX Sewing Class

Our Port-de-Paix sewing class is already in its second year! In our first year, two Haitian teachers taught 10 students (7 men and 3 women) basic sewing techniques using treadle sewing machines. Known as foot-pump sewing machines, these sewing machines don't require electricity, which is perfect since Haiti's power is often spotty.

We currently have 6 students enrolled in our second year, advanced sewing class.  These students (all men) are learning advanced sewing techniques, and they're already earning extra income for themselves by sewing school uniforms and making alterations.

NORTHWEST HAITI CHRISTIAN MISSION - MOLE ST. NICOLAS Sewing Class

In April 2016, we began a new partnership with Northwest Haiti Christian Mission's Mole St. Nicolas campus to start a new sewing class there.

The sewing class has one Haitian sewing teacher and 15 students, all of whom are women. The students are learning basic sewing techniques.

In addition to learning a trade that will allow them to provide for themselves and their families, they also desire to make an impact in their community by sewing clothes for orphans, and for people who can't afford nice church clothes.
