Sewing machines for new class

We're currently seeking 15 vintage electric metal sewing machines for our new Port-de-Paix class. Our students will convert these electric sewing machines into treadle sewing machines that do not require electricity (since we do not have electricity).

There are many vintage sewing machines on Ebay ranging in price from $100 - $200. Since shipping to Haiti is costly, we want to be sure that the machines we send can definitely be converted, so we are only seeking external belt-driven motor machines at this time. Please see below for an example of this type of machine. The belt is exposed and you can see the little motor on the back of the machine.

Our goal is to acquire 15 machines by July 31 so we can ship them on the annual cargo boat shipment.

As of 7/3/18 - We've purchased all 15 machines. Thank you!

If you are interested in donating money toward the purchase of a machine, please click the button below. Or, if you are interested in purchasing a machine off Ebay (or another online retailer) and having it shipped to us, please contact us. We also gladly accept checks. Please make checks payable to Haiti 323 Project, PO Box 35, Sellersburg, IN, 47172. Please write "sewing machines" in the memo line.

Thank you for helping sewing students in Haiti!

Have one to donate?

If you have a vintage machine that fits this description that you'd like to donate, we'd love to hear from you! Please contact us so we can chat further.

Please note: At this time, we are not accepting the black antique Singer treadle machines (or the wooden treadle attachments), because we have a few of those already, and those are available in Haiti. The students prefer these vintage metal machines, because they have more features than the antique treadles.
