Port-de-Paix Class of 2021

The Port-de-Paix sewing students graduated with great fanfare on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Approximately 150 guests came to the “Church on the Mountain” to participate in the festivities.

The sewing class planned the entire graduation ceremony and reception themselves. They made all of their clothes, including their gowns and the orange outfits they wore under their gowns. They even incorporated a special fashion show to illustrate their sewing skills. The beautiful ceremony was followed by a large buffet-style reception. This was a special day the students and their families will remember forever.

Thank Yous

First, we praise and thank the Lord for all He has done and continues to do for the sewing programs! There have been many more challenges these past three years than in years past, but the Lord has carried us through. Lamentations 3:22-23 NIV:

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.”

Special thank you to Professor Michelle for faithfully teaching another group of students how to sew. Now these students are equipped with a skill that they will have for the rest of their lives.

Lastly, we want to thank you, our dear friends and supporters, for all of your love, prayers, and support throughout the years. We love and appreciate you!

7.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southwest Haiti

A major 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Southwest Haiti on Saturday, August 14, 2021. The death toll is currently 1,300 and thousands are still missing. At least 949 homes, seven churches, two hotels and three schools were destroyed. More than 723 homes, one prison, three health centres and seven schools were heavily damaged.

Our sewing programs are located in the Northwest so they felt it, but we aren't near ground zero. However, many are afraid to sleep indoors for fear of aftershocks.

Please continue to pray for Haiti.

We're just days away from our largest fundraiser of the year - Give for Good Louisville!

Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise an amazing $15,347.60 in a single day last year. This year, we hope to raise even more!

This is a 100% virtual event. Here's how you can help:

We need a minimum of 90 people to donate $10 or more on Friday, Sept. 17. If we reach 90 donors, we'll get a share of a $120,000 bonus pool!

There's also an additional $40,000 in match money available for Southern Indiana-based non-profits, like us.

You do not have to live in the Louisville-area to participate in this special giving day.

The money raised will go toward our new teenage sewing program, program supplies, and student sponsorships.
